Taste the Passion: Behind the scenes with Jaci Hicken, a Chef, Journalist and Speaker


Jaci Hicken is the founder of Jacican Cooking School and Food Studio in Mirboo North, Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. She is simultaneously a journalist and chef, who grows her own food. She shares it with others and can write about it!

A Bit about her re-starting journey.  She has started again three times in her life ...The first time was chasing a dream to work in broadcast television as an engineer, only to burn out, and hit the bottom. This brought her to the second re-start. She re-trained as a chef, to follow the second dream of living in a regional area, growing her own fruit and vegetables, and cooking for everyone. She calls this dream Jacican. At the start of 2020, before the world ended and we all had to stay home, she went back to university to study to become a journalist. For her this was not a re-start, but a return to where she started. To others, her lecturers, employers, and peers it has been seen as a re-start. A restart in a new field, with new skills.
